Why ‘feminism’ isn’t a dirty word and why is feminism important (to me).

I grew up with someone, who didn’t have the word ‘equality’ in his vocabulary, whether that be equal marriage rights, equal right for all skin colors or equality between sexes. I grew up with someone, who would tell my mother that her place is in the kitchen, for years he protested against her having a job. I grew up with someone who said all gays needed to be shot because he believes it’s unnatural (I’m bisexual, sorry not sorry) and is as unforgivable as pedophilia. I grew up with someone that would disrespect one of my friends with snarky comments only because…

A letter to a friend.

Dear friend, I am writing to you because of this inspiration that’s surging trough my body. I don’t really remember when was the last time I wrote a letter, you know the real kind, but someone not so long ago called me an inspiration and even though I certainly am not one, I feel obligated to write you this letter. As sappy and cliché this sounds, you need to know that you are amazing in every aspect. I’m not a poet or a writer so I will borrow the words from an old friend of mine O. Wilde: ‘You are…

The fear of being alone.

I used to think (foolishly if I may add) that being alone and being lovely was the same thing. I’m not just referring to being relationshipless but also doing things for yourself by yourself, you know alone. Have you seen that silly video floating around internet where in what appears to be a waiting area for doctors or something of that sort, people start randomly standing up after a beep and this one person, who isn’t on this, start’s following suit, because people are like sheep, we can’t stand to be independent and different, but rather follow the crowd hence why peer pressure…

Not minimalist enough?

“Possessions have no intrinsic meaning only the meaning we give them.” – Source During TheMinimalists latest podcast (at least latest while I’m writing this, it might not be the latest, when you are reading this), a woman named Maggie (apologize if I’ve spelled it wrong) asked a question about minimalism lifestyle, looking up to other minimalists and this concept of ‘not feeling minimalist enough’. I think just like with a lot of movements and lifestyles, you’ll have the extremists like Connor from Thriving Minimalist and you’ll also have people like me that find comfort in clutter free life, but contrary to…

Dear vegans, don’t be ‘pscho grass eaters’.

As a long-ish term vegan, I think I am past the ‘all or nothing’ attitude that so many young/new vegans (including myself) have at the beginning. You know, when you think YOU are going to be the one to change the world with YOUR vegan message. Now, two years in, I’d like to think veganism for me has become less about ME and more about the movement as a whole, and the greater picture. Someone today asked me if, when going to a restaurant that offers a vegan-friendly option, technically it means that by default you’d still be consuming some level…
